Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) places duties on the Responsible Person to assess, manage and document fire risk – including risk arising from ventilation and kitchen extract systems.
Purpose
The RRO is the principal fire safety legislation in England and Wales. It requires the Responsible Person to carry out and maintain a fire risk assessment, and to take measures to reduce identified risks – including those arising from grease and combustible deposits within ductwork.

- Suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment, kept current
- General fire precautions, including control of combustible material
- Provision of information, instruction and training
- Co-operation and co-ordination between duty holders
